Tuesday's Oprah

April 19th, 2006 at 02:34 pm

Did any one watch Oprah yesterday? She had a young lady on the show that spent over $150,000 trying to look, well dress like a celebrity. Wow...now I am a clothes fanatic but I don't think I could spend that much.

In a sense I can admit that I too had a problem, but since I have jumped on the ban wagon to be debt free I am more concern with how much money I saved than what clothes I buy. I read a article a while ago that stated if you clean out your closet and wear things that still have the tag on them or items you have not worn in a while it feels as though you just went shopping and that one could experience the same high that they get when you go shopping. I have done this and believe me you it works

Shopping is an addiction it can be just as bad as being addicted to drugs

$150,000 on clothes??!! Yikes!!! That's a small fortune that I would put into CD's, Money Market accounts, Silver Eagles, etc.

To spend that much would make me physically ill. I couldn't even watch the program!

    How sad...

Compound interest on that amount for 30-40 years and it is tragic.

Addictions are devestating....no doubt about it.

That is funny, they were naming all the brand names and I have never even heard of any of them.

It's sad to say Ima but I knew every brand that was named...lol OMG I am so glad to moving in a totally different direction. I use to spend easily any where from $65.00 to $150.00 on jeans. I guess it I total those items it would be high but not even closes to $150000

i missed it! monday was good thought with oscar de la renta. i just try to do look for less outfits. someone asked me if my shirt was versace yesterday, it wasn't of course. i don't think you should have to sacrafice style just because you are saving money. i've gotten seven's on sale for under 100 and one of my friends swears by ebay jeans. she's bought tru religion for $20. there are ways to look good and still hold onto your money!
