What a day

April 4th, 2008 at 04:07 am

well I went to the dentist and he wants me to have some scaling done, I don't think so...I have had scaling after scaling and it seems like it is not helping my gums. But the dentist gave me a mouth wash that I have used for about 2 weeks and he says my gums are much better, then why the scaling? Let's just hold off until after my scheduled cleaning which I plan on doing, if my gums are getting better with the mouthwash rather than spending $400 I would like to $15 copay for a mouthwash
Next I go to register for class and can't because I am not listed as a senior, arrrrrrrrrrgh. Now I am able to register and because of budget cuts so many classes have been dropped from the schedule or there maybe 1 class that is from 9-11 with a 21 students on a waiting list (this is from the instructor) and of course even if I was on the list I can not attend due to my work schedule. So basically my plans to graduate in the fall is out of the window.
But on a good note I upped my contribution from 4% to 6% for my company's 401k

Ugh... scheduling classes. I feel your pain. Sometimes it seems like they are TRYING to make it hard.

Good luck with everything, and by the way, what's a scaling?

Ohhh, Amber, I feel your PAIN! I'm on the same boat.

I tried to reister a summer class, and got an error message saying I need a consent with Business Dept. to sign up this class. WTH??? As you said, due to budget cut, the class offering was reduced to half and this class is mandatory for graduation. So, they are giving priority to people who are graduating this summer.

But the thing is, I haven't received any notice about the "consent". And the administration office is closed this week because of spring break. So, there's nothing I can do till Monday! I hate the administration system of my school.

    Amber,
What did the hygienist think about your gums? I would ask the hygienist, "What would you recommend if I were your best friend or sister"?

Also, if you really want to avoid the scaling, make sure you are taking absolutely perfect care of your mouth until that cleaning appointment. Brush 2-3x/day (make sure the bristles are angles toward your gums, and brush your tongue every time you brush your teeth), floss with string floss 1-2x/day (gently but make sure to loop it tightly around the side of each tooth and scrape up the tooth 3 times on each side), use the rinse your dentist gave you as he/she directed.

Unfortunately, if your gums are already bad and you have some boneloss you may need the scaling now. Has it been awhile since you had a professional cleaning? But, once you have it done IF you keep your regular appointments as directed by the dentist/hygienist (and they may be as often as every 3 months), and take care of your mouth at home you usually will not need scaling again anytime soon. The following appointments will be maintenance.

I hope this is helpful to you. Great job on the retirement contributions!!!

    Mari
I actually get a cleaning every three months because I am so bad with the flossing. But I am definately taking your advice. I am flossing after each and every meal, including snacks and am brushing every chance I get. The dentist actually cleans my teeth but I have an hygienist in my class and will ask her if I should keep doing what i am doing until the next appoint
