Today was a pretty decent day. The A/C was out at the office, they kept us there. Good thing no one died from heat exhaustion 🙄🤦🏾♀️
I hate being in a position where I feel like my job is more important than my health. But I'm still looking.
On a different note, no dining out so $6 saved. I washed my own hair today and that was another $45 saved. All in all I saved $51 today. Since I saved $51 today, I'll split the money saved and add $25.50 on CC3 and $25.50 to my savings.
Tomorrow I have my little mentee so I'll be looking for a nice restaurant with coupons; hopefully we can get a BOGO. I was thinking about pedicures but I need to find something else and less expensive to do.
That's it for now, have a great weekend.

My fiancé's mother is back in the hospital. She has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. No surprise there, but the family is surprised, they're all in denial.
After the death of both her husband and daughter, I've seen this woman go downhill. It's sad because I keep telling my fiancé to get her some therapy and he says she won't go. Depression is a serious matter, it allows all sorts of thoughts to enter ones mind. Sad thing is she hasn't been taking her prescriptions as prescribed that has put a strain on her heart.
I'm praying that she can get through this little patch of life she's stuck at.
On the financial side of things, I'm doing okay. This week I have not eaten out for lunch or breakfast, so I paid an extra $20 on CC2. Sunday I start the Dave Ramsey financial peace class so I'm excited about that.
I'm trucking along with the 52 week challenge, I'm at $603 with that.
No other financial news to report
So the brunch was a hit, everyone wants me to do it again next year. We are actually going to turn my idea into a for profit business. Of course my mom was not there to support, but that's typical.
Dad has been in the hospital since Wednesday, he was doing well but then boom he started acting up, removing his oxygen and trying to remove his cath, we had to restrain him 😢
In mother news, today is her birthday and somehow she managed to have my sister in tears. Nothing hurts more than words and wanting to have a relationship with your mother. I explained to my sister that, though I understand, she's going to have to try really hard and let things go. Our mother, I've learned is just plain old evil. There's no getting around it. She's always negative, only do things so that others can say she did this or that, never from the heart. With her there is always a motive as to why she does things. Our dad said it best, she can't love because she doesn't know how, and she hasn't learned to forgive.
Financial news I was able to still add to the house fund, reaching $3400, hoping to hit 5k by June. I've been spending a lot more since dad has been in the hospital, dining out has been the culprit.
As I begin pricing homes, I realize that things are way too expensive, I don't want to lose hope, so I'm saying a prayer that this will be the year that I can make things happen.
After March, I'm going to start looking for a part-time job or one that pays me more money.
Well, I got paid and added my $50 to the house fund, coupled that with the $100 dad gave me as well as the extra $17 to round things up, and now my new total is $2,600. I'm hoping I can hit that $3,000 mark by end of March.
I really tried today to make it a no spend day but that didn't happened. Needed a few girly things so I headed to the store. While I was there I went ahead and picked up snack and dinner for tomorrow.
I did workout today. I started back walking/running. I want to train myself to run at least a 3k
I will say this, today was the first day in awhile that I did not have a soda, yay! I was so excited, and to be honest I wasn't even craving one.
In financial news, I checked my checking account and I had $.90 worth of change so I rounded down and added the $.90 to the credit card. Because I worked out and didn't have a soda I added two more dollars to the $.90, giving me a total of $2.90 paid on the CC.
That's it in a nutshell. Hopefully tomorrow I won't spend a dime.
Yep, dad gave me a $100 today and I transferred it to my savings, I'm at $2182.29, can't wait to get paid to hit the $2200 mark.
Also added $9 to the CC, have to stop eating out, this is adding up.
Tomorrow, I plan on making chicken and stuffing in the crockpot.
On our way to the fair, haven't been there in years.
I know when I blog I stay on track, I hate when things throw me off, when that happens I stop blogging and start spending. Have to stay focus.
With that said, I'm trucking right along. The BF took care of my car's oil change and filled me up. I didn't ask how much he paid, but I estimated about $60 for everything. So I added the $60 to my $20/52 Week challenge. New total $2,082.26. I'm so happy.
Dad and I will be running errands and he usually give me a $100 on the days we do this. Even though I tell him he don't have to he always do. He says he'll rather give it to his kids than other people who will sure enough take it.
I splurged and had McDonalds for breakfast $3.60 so I paid $3.60 on the BoA credit card, I figured if I have extra to eat out then I have money to pay down debt.
Lastly, we are getting our security cameras installed. It saddens me that we are in an age where Big Brother always have to be watching. Awful
I've been using the Cash app now for quite sometime, and when ever I refer someone, that person and I get $5 when they use the app. The great thing about it is that it's free and instant, unless you link a credit card, that's 3%. What I love about it is that the person that you're sending or receiving funds from do not have your account info.
So with that my neice sent me cash, for some items I'm selling and I got $5. I added this to my $20/52 week challenge, new total $1,973.26. 😄
Here's my code if you're interested.
Try the Cash app using my code and we’ll each get $5! FGHTDRQ
So I go to dad's and he has a ton of ones for me, $44 worth. Apparently he hates ones and throws them to the side. So today he decided to give them to me, I told him yes, I'll take that, thank you very much.
Added $44 to my $20/52 week challenge, new balance $1,968.26
Friday is payday and I'll be adding week 49 ($49) deposit, and that my dear will put me at $2,000 before February. I'm so excited. I'm hoing to hit 5k by June.
Though I had said that any extra money received that I Woolf put towards the house, but I find the need to add funds to my CC debt as well.
Last night I received an extra $30 from dad, so I added half to the $20/52 week challenge and the other half to CC1
It's a struggle but I'm trying. Hopefully today will also be my first no spend day if the year and I can add $5.00 to my challenge.
Yesterday dad gave me $100, so I added it my $20/52 week challenge. I thought my balance was 1,791.26, but I was surprised to learn that it was actually $1,891.26. I have my fingers crossed that I will hit my goal of $2000 before February.
I have some change that I need to cash in, I think that's about $80. I've been putting it off because the credit union has moved, normally I would go there and they'll feed the change through a machine. Now with my local bank, I have to roll the coins. I know it's no excuse, I just really don't want to do that .😡
My mom gave me $25 today for my birthday. I almost fell out of my chair, the woman never gives away anything, particularly money.
So rather than spending it, I added to my $20/52 Week Challenge, new balance is 1,751.26.
I read my vision board every day so that I stay on track and I'm blogging to do the same. Our landlord wants to sale this place and she's giving us first dibs so we really need to make sure that our funds are in place. Even if we end up not buying this place, at least have money available for a possible move.
My birthday was yesterday and very low key, usually we're heading out of town but not this year. We had happy hour at the house with friends and that was actually nice.
That's it in a nutshell.
So dad gave me an extra $40 and I'm adding it to my house/challenge fund.
New total $1,676.26. I'm pretty certain by February I'll hit $2,000.
This weekend I'll be entering in more receipts, I can't wait until this is done. But hey, at least I'm trying.
Trying to stay on track for 2016.
Dad gave me $200 today so I deposit the entire amount I ton my house challenge fund. If I said it once I said it a 1000x so long as I'm blogging, i, on track.
I also, started to enter in receipts that I haven't entered in months, so that I can finalize my 2016 spending and create a new budget. I also cleared out my closet getting rid of four items I also got rid of two items out of the kitchen cabinet that were expired. It's a slow process but I'm trying to finally declutter.
Tomorrow, I'll buy a bin yo house all my Valentine's Day Decorations so that things are easy to find. Next month I'll get one for the St. Patrick Day stuff.
That's it in a nutshell I'll update my sidebar tomorrow.
Okie dokie we are back from PA. We had my BF family reunion and of course I ended up spending money I should not have.
I asked the BF to move out. Prior to us going on this trip he still owed $120.00 for the airfare, now he owes me $200+ for cable, $75 for luggage and $281 for the rental car. I told him prior to going that I did not want to be responsible for anything concerning this trip. I foot the bill for the Derby because that was something that I always wanted to do, this was his trip. He wants to talk things out, but I'm done, financially, we are not on the same page, and I am tired.
On a different note I am tackling CC4, I caught the devil trying to set up automatic payments of $10 per week but I was able to do it.
I've managed to bump my IRA to $396.71, and still able to add $15 a week to that. Not to mention I signed up for the company's 401(k) at 3% that averages about $33 per pay period.
I was also able to bump my $20/52 Week challenge to $2211.30; I would love to hit the 5k mark by December, but it doesn't look like it unless I get a job paying more.
Lastly, I have been on two interviews with the same company and will be going in for my third on Wednesday. I am pretty confident that I have the job, but I won't post anything until I receive my offer letter.
That's in in a nutshell
Today I decided to wash and color my own hair, had I gone to a salon this would have cost me about $35.
So I decided to add $15 to my 52 week/$20 Challenge and I paid $15 on CC4.
I realized that I need to save about $16,000 as down payment for a $80k fixer upper. Right now I've socked away $2087.53, goal is to have at least $5k saved by the end of the year. It feels great to put a number on the amount I need.
Ugh! Received a bill from CC3, apparently the card wasn't paid off and there was some interest accrued; therefore, I owe $12.39 😡
I paid it it but this just annoyed me. I can now say goodby officially.
On a different note, I have started tackling CC4 and this week alone I added an extra $35.
I've also upped my 52 Week/$20 challenge to $2070. Things are going great. Hopefully I can get this card down by half by the end of the year.
Well I did it! I hit the $2,000 mark for my challenges 😃
Added a dollar for losing a pound, and $15 for washing my own hair and not going to the salon. I'm so excited, I wanted to hit this amount before the end of the month. Now the goal is to hit 3K before October, fingers crossed.
I also paid another $15 on CC3, new balance $168
Well made a $40 deposit to my 52 Week Challenge, since I'm on week 40. I also added $10 because dad gave me an extra $20. My new balance is $1984.53. I can't wait until I hit the 2k mark.
I also paid an extra $80 on CC3, bringing that total to $183. I'm cashing in my BoA points for cash so once I get the $120 I'll pay that amount on the CC. The goal is to have this thing out of my hair by July.
That's it in a nutshell
Mom fell out of the bed and is wearing a neck brace, doctor thinks it's vertigo. She's doing better
Caught dad with the neighborhood prostitute. I was so shocked I couldn't say one word. I'll have to share the story later.
Had an interview, the job is perfect except for drive that is about 45 minutes away from my house without traffic. The company is currently five minutes away but will be moving. I have another interview Monday with a different company, I'll see how that goes. This one is about 20 -30 minutes.
I added $70 to my 52 week/$20 challenge, new total $1934. I'm so excited, it looks as though I may hit the 2k mark before the end of the month. I'm really trying, fingers crossed.
Got CC3 down to $263.50. Next week I'll be paying an extra $70 on this card so that will put me under the $200 mark. I was hoping to have it paid off by the end of the month but it looks like that won't happen until mid July. Better late than never.
Other than that, that's it in a nutshell. I weigh in tomorrow for Weight Watchers, I sort of fell off the wagon but I haven't used any extra points hopefully I've lost a little.
Weighed in at my Weight Watchers meeting, and I'm down 4lbs 😃
Because I'm down four pounds I added $2 to my 52 Week/$20 Challenge fund and $2 to my CC debt (4lb = $4). I'm super excited.
Yesterday marked 6 years that I've been with the BF, we decided not to spend any money on gifts and just go out for dinner. Made sense to me.
Honestly on a different note, I am thinking about taking the money out of my challenge fund ($283.50) to pay off CC3. I'm ready to start tackling CC4, I think I'm getting impatient. It's funny until I started my debt snowball the debt bothered me but not like now. It's like I'm on a high, and I'm trying to reach the euphoria, that feeling you get when you're debt free. 😃
Finally got CC3 under $300, new balance $285.50.
Dad gave me a few extra dollars and I always split this amount between CC and 52 Week/$20 Chalkenge. I was able to boost my challenge to about $1838 😃
I can say I'm doing good with paying down bills and saving. My sister called and asked to borrow $2,000, I'm so glad I said no. Normally I feel bad, and give in and then complain when I don't get my money back but this time I said no. Besides, giving her the money would have cleaned out my house fund and EF.
Fast forward two days and the BF tells me his cousin needs to borrow $2600 to pay the taxes on his home. Now he wasn't asking to borrow the money, but it sure as heck sounded like it. I just listened and didn't offer. I did take this opportunity to explain to him how important it is to save for rainy days.
I've talked about owning my own place forever and next year I want to make it a reality.
I've been applying for jobs that's paying more money. With a new job, I can save at a faster pace and pay down my debt more quickly.
Well I was headed up to see my brother, dad gave me $20 for the ride, so once again I paid $10 on CC3 (balance $350 and change) and added $10 towards my 52 Week/$20 Challenge, as well as $2 for heading to the gym and my new balance is $1750.01😀 if only I could have hit $2,000 by the end of the month.
On a different note I applied for a job about two weeks ago. On Thursday I received an email from a recruiter who stated she was sending me the predictive test (hate those). Took the test and scored 97%. Now in an educational setting this is an "A" however, I'm not sure of the score the company is looking for (fingers crossed). Oops this was their "Customer Service Mindset Test"
Next, I took the "Human Resources Basic" test and scored 95% again I'm freaking out because my score isn't a 100%. Hopefully, I'll hear something, fingers crossed. The position is starting in the low 50s about 12k more than I'm currently making, and the company has a very rich benefits packet, not to mention they believe in professional development. That means that I can attend HR events without worrying about dirty looks, while earning my recertification credits. The position is also a mixture of HR, that I love. I'm not just stuck in a benefits role, but an employee relations, benefits, wellness, risk management etc are areas that I would be covering, and because of this I would be up on industry trends.
Well I joined Weight Watchers (WW) free of charge through my health insurance. How cool is that? 😍
We have a wellness program with our insurance company. One of my of my goals was to lose weight, that is how I ended up with the free WW membership for six months. Sweet 😀
I went to the gym so I'm adding $2 to my challenge. I also went yesterday, so it's actuall four dollars 😀
Dad gave me an extra $20, I paid $10 on CC3 and added $10 to my challenge fund. Things are going pretty well.
52 Week/$20 Challenge $1738.01
I have been on a hiatus for the last two and a half weeks. So I packed my gym clothes, prior to heading to the office and after work, I hit the gym. So I added $2 to my 52 week/$20 challenge fund. I've decided to add $2 when ever I go to the gym.
Dad also gave me a $100 to pay his $97 cable bill, so the $3 left I split between my challenge fund and CC3. I know it seems minimal but it works for me. I was able to pay off my debt and become debt free the first time around doing this.
All in all today was actually a great day.
Well dad gave me a $100 today so I contributed $20 to Christ Fellowship, the service was awesome.
I also paid $20.04 on CC3 bringing my total to $379.00
I added $20 to my 52 Week/$20 challenge, new total $1720. The goal is to hit $3000 by August and 5k by the end of the year.
Lastly, I hit the gym, and applied for four positions today.
I was considering heading to a concert tomorrow for about $40, but changed my mind keeping the focus on paying down debt and saving money, so it's going to be a beach day. 🏄🏾
I love my job, but can't stand my boss. She is very selfish, not to mention incompetent. On Thursday, she made a very sarcastic remark in reference to my knowledge when it comes to HR. It was like she was saying, yes I recognized you're knowledgeable in this area and yet I don't respect you for it. On thing about me is that I love the field of HR, particularly compliance/law. So I attend ever conference, lecture, webinar, and read every trade magazine I can, and for that I'm looked down for it. It really bothered me so I decided to begin a 21 day fast and prayer. Praying for a break through. Though I would hate to leave but I think it's time to move on. I think what keeps me there is that staff loves me, and I mean that literally 😍 that what's make me feel good. She's the HR director, but yet staff respects me more. Ironic
On a different note. Friday was pay day so I paid all bills due until the next pay period with the exception of rent. Dad always says, "the best time for a man to pay his bills, is when he has the money." 😀
Also, I've open up an IRA and automatically have $10 deposited each week and so far the total is now at $281. Not nearly as much as what I should have but I figured it's a start and the funny thing is I don't miss the $10. Once CC3 is paid off I'll add an extra $5.
I've also added $42 to my 52 Week/$20 Challenge brining my total to $1697.51, way more than my original goal of $1300. I've since boosted the goal to $5,000 by the end of the year. Fingers are crossed.
I think I might just add the $3 to make it an even $1700.
I decided to cancel my hair appointment tomorrow, savings of $35.
Usually I wouldn't do anything with what I have saved but something is telling me to to use some of my saving to pay down debt. So I payed $15 on CC3 and add $15 towards my 52 week/$20 Challenge. I figured every little bit helps.
New challenge total $1655.40
CC3 balance $394
Yesterday dad gave me $40, usually I split this amount as well but pay day isn't until the end of the week and I'm trying to hold on to every little bit until then.
Dad always gives me money every week, it's his way of saying he appreciates me. I've told him time and time again it's not necessary.
Today he gave me $50 so I paid $25 on CC3 knocking the balance down to $409. I added $25 to my 52 week/$20 Challenge, bringing my total to $1652. Whew if I can hit $5k by the end of the year I'd be so happy.
The key to saving is discipline.
Dad gave me $50 towards his truck insurance. I'm actually responsible for paying it. See he doesn't drive anymore, but he lives alone, so I pay it to keep a vehicle in the yard. My brother who is suppose to be there may come home once every other week.
The insurance is $70 a month, not bad. So I simply added $25 to my challenge fund and $25 to CC3. Basically what dad gave me I used as extra income. So with the extra income I was able to knock CC3 down to about $440 and bump my house fund ( same as my challenge) to $1600. The goal was to hit $3,00 by the end of the year but I've bump that to $5,000 since I'm doing so good. Hopeful I can have CC3 paid off by July
