The Struggle

March 4th, 2019 at 02:18 am

No spend day today, I’m excited and yet anxious. I want to take what I’ve saved in the sinking fund for vacation/fun and throw at my CC.

I’ve been saving to celebrate a small win, it’s been almost two years and I haven’t done anything fun per se. A part of me says CC debt, while another says, hold off until June and do something fun. I really want this debt gone.

Other news, when you’re on a budget you try new things. Today was the first day I made beef 🥩 stew. It was absolutely delicious. I bought the McCormick crockpot package, added onions, carrots 🥕, celery and potatoes 🥔.

This weekend I’m going to tackle the washing machine, I’ll keep you all posted.

you are doing an amazing job tackling your debt Amber!! I wonder if a little planned and budgeted fun might help you to keep on track and guard against you feeling burned out. good luck! CC9 will be paid off soon either way - you're doing great!

Amber, our dryer went out a few months ago. We called a repairman who changed a few parts for us. It's back to working (not great, but it's working). He said our machines are 9 years old and that's about their lifespan. That was a hard pill to swallow BUT we are still plugging forward with the machines. It was significantly cheaper than buying new machines. Wishing you well with whatever you have to do to have functioning laundry.

Glad your cooking is turning so successful. You may realize that what you make is far better than what you can get eating out. We have a friend when given the choice of going out to eat or coming here and my fixing meatloaf, he says if I don't mind, he'd rather come here and have meatloaf.

Hope you can figure out your washer. Alliecat79 is right though. The lifespan for most major appliances is between 8-10 years. Hope yours is an easy fix.

Beef stew is one of my favorite things to cook. I used to make it in the crock pot all the time. Now I make it in the Instant Pot, just because it is faster, but if I were gone all day I'd still do it in the crock pot. You should try making pork stew sometime, too, same seasonings.
