Saved $51 today

September 23rd, 2017 at 12:23 am

Today was a pretty decent day. The A/C was out at the office, they kept us there. Good thing no one died from heat exhaustion πŸ™„πŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ
I hate being in a position where I feel like my job is more important than my health. But I'm still looking.

On a different note, no dining out so $6 saved. I washed my own hair today and that was another $45 saved. All in all I saved $51 today. Since I saved $51 today, I'll split the money saved and add $25.50 on CC3 and $25.50 to my savings.

Tomorrow I have my little mentee so I'll be looking for a nice restaurant with coupons; hopefully we can get a BOGO. I was thinking about pedicures but I need to find something else and less expensive to do.

That's it for now, have a great weekend.

Best time for a man to pay his bills

January 17th, 2017 at 12:10 pm

One thing my dad has always said and that was, " A best time for a man to pay his bills is when he has the money." Trust me when I tell you, this is a true statement. You may not have much afterwards but at least your bills are paid.

Got up this morning, said thank you to the Lord for letting me see another day. I forgot it was my birthday, until I got a few texts. So I'm adding being thankful for another birthday to my list.

I'm also thankful because I was able to pay my CC bill as soon as I got it (best time to pay a bill) . I checked my emails and there was a bill from HSBC. I'm really sick of these CC bills. Like Dave Ramsey says, they're like little bugs, flying around nagging you. I can't wait to get the bills down and out of my hair. I can say, I got my BoA CC down by almost $200 this month, this comes from $2-$7 here and there.

So long as I continue to do as my dad says and blog here, I should have most of my debt paid off by December.

Clothing returns

January 16th, 2017 at 01:58 am

If you knew me well, you'd know I love clothes. It's one of my weaknesses. The other day I bought a sweater and I thought, why? You don't need it, so I returned it. Today I bought a pair of pants, for an event tomorrow and I thought, you don't really like them and it's only for one day. So tomorrow I'll be returning.

I've been doing pretty good and not drinking any sodas. For every day I don't have a soda, I pay $2 on the CC, that's $14 a week. If I keep it up, it will be an extra $56 dollars every month.

Today I had brunch with a friend for her birthday. The place she chose, I can't stand. It's too loud, and I'm use to the nice little quaint places for brunch, not this new stuff with music and a DJ. She chooses this spot every year. Anyway, I forgot to budget for it so I spent $38 (including tip) and added an additional $40 to the CC since I had not had this item in my budget.

Tomorrow I'll be entering receipts, I think so far I'm doing pretty good with keeping my spending down.

Dinner with friends

January 10th, 2017 at 02:57 am

When ever my classmate is in town, he always wants us to get together. I really didn't want to go and spend any money but I decided to go, since we hardly see each other.

Needless I was glad I went,it was great seeing everyone. We had great conversations and was able to capture the moment with photos. He also decided to foot the bill and we just left the tip. I thought that was nice.

I decided to take what o saved, about $13 (I had a salad) and $5 in tip, and paid it on the CC. I figured, why not? I would have spent this anyway.

This weekend, I'll update my sidebar. I've been a little busy.

No sodas

January 5th, 2017 at 02:46 am

For two days I did not have a soda. I almost caved in yesterday because I was stressed but I didn't. So for that, I paid $4 on the CC. I know some would say $4, but $4 here, $2 there all added up and I was debt free at one point by simply doing this. So I'm back at it.

Also thanks to everyone who has joined the Fitbit challenge. I haven't met my goal of 10k but at least I'm back walking. I did 30 minutes tonight, super proud of myself. I'm adding $2 to my challenge for being active.

No sodas

January 3rd, 2017 at 03:16 am

Today was a good day, no sodas. I had given them up for some time, but then boom I started again. I decided to pay myself $2 for every time I don't have a soda. I think by doing so it will encourage me to drink more water πŸ’¦

On a different note πŸ“ , I only spent $27 dollars today filling up my car, and a $100 on the cable, my fingers are crossed that tomorrow is a no spend day. I have to figure out how to get this cable bill down. I'm really considering a fire stick.

Lastly, my mom finally did it, she told my sister to get out. I can't figure out for the life of me why she is so hateful. My sister cause no trouble, she goes to work, church and home. My mother is up in age and not doing well. We all have said it, she's going to find herself in that house alone.

Happy New Year πŸ₯‚πŸΎ

January 2nd, 2017 at 03:25 am

Happy New Year everyone! πŸ₯‚πŸΎπŸŽ†

Today was a little busy for me. Went to church, then off to find a belated Christmas gift for my boss, cleaned my car, meal prep and grocery shopping. I really wanted to get my shopping out of the way so that I could have a no spend day tomorrow but I forgot to get gas.

Church was awesome, it's been a while since I've been the first Sunday of the month, let alone the year. Unfortunately, things are tight so I was only able to make a $20 donation.

From there I headed over to Michael's, I wanted a new planner but just couldn't bring myself to spend over $30 on one. I would have had to purchase the binder, that was $20, the calendar another $5, plus other things I wanted like the meal plan, and fitness items. Just not worth it.

I was going to go to Bed Bath and Beyond but decided to head to the Christian bookstore to get a gift for my aunt ($7). While there, they had a lotion/bath set at half price for $10 so I picked this up for my boss. Not bad. Though I hate gift exchanges we had one at the office, the boss was on vacation so I made out like a bandit by waiting. Oh yeah and I found a lovely planner for $10.

From there I ended up buying a sub, ugh. Cost me about $10 with a drink and chips, needless to say because I ate out, I had to also pay $5 on the CC and add $5 to my savings. I figured, if I had the money to eat out I should have the money to pay down debt and save.

Once home, I created a meal plan for the week. From that I went grocery shopping ($64), I'm hoping to stay focus and keep up with my meal planning.

Lastly, I washed my car myself, costing me about $6, saving me another $6 so I'm adding the $6 saved to debt reduction and savings.

End of Year Clean Up

December 31st, 2016 at 02:03 am

So I have been entering receipts all day, ugh. I want to make sure that everything is entered and accounts are balanced for the start of the year.

I have been so lax with my finances, I didn't even notice that the plot I would like to purchase next to my dad was not being deducted from my account, so tomorrow I have to take care of this. I also manage to rack up so much CC debt. I'm so annoyed with myself, especially because I know better.

My mom, had my sister in tears tonight, I'm really at a my whits end with my mother, she makes trying to have a relationship with her extremely difficult.

So tomorrow, I'll be back at tackling the finances and clearing things up. Wish me luck.

Oops almost forgot, I am back at the $20 Challenge. Today, I dined out spent $10.00 so I added an extra $5.00 to my CC payment and an extra $5.00 to the savings account. if I can spend $10.00 foolishly I should be able to save and pay down debt as well.

What's happening

April 17th, 2016 at 01:37 pm

So the brunch was a hit, everyone wants me to do it again next year. We are actually going to turn my idea into a for profit business. Of course my mom was not there to support, but that's typical.

Dad has been in the hospital since Wednesday, he was doing well but then boom he started acting up, removing his oxygen and trying to remove his cath, we had to restrain him 😒
In mother news, today is her birthday and somehow she managed to have my sister in tears. Nothing hurts more than words and wanting to have a relationship with your mother. I explained to my sister that, though I understand, she's going to have to try really hard and let things go. Our mother, I've learned is just plain old evil. There's no getting around it. She's always negative, only do things so that others can say she did this or that, never from the heart. With her there is always a motive as to why she does things. Our dad said it best, she can't love because she doesn't know how, and she hasn't learned to forgive.

Financial news I was able to still add to the house fund, reaching $3400, hoping to hit 5k by June. I've been spending a lot more since dad has been in the hospital, dining out has been the culprit.

$3000 in three months!

March 16th, 2016 at 02:32 am

Yeah I hit my $3,000 mark today. I'm so excited, it pay day so I added $200 to my $20/52 week challenge. For some $3,000 may not be a lot, but it's a huge accomplishment for me.

$20 and 52 Week Challenge

March 2nd, 2016 at 02:18 am

As I begin pricing homes, I realize that things are way too expensive, I don't want to lose hope, so I'm saying a prayer that this will be the year that I can make things happen.

After March, I'm going to start looking for a part-time job or one that pays me more money.

Well, I got paid and added my $50 to the house fund, coupled that with the $100 dad gave me as well as the extra $17 to round things up, and now my new total is $2,600. I'm hoping I can hit that $3,000 mark by end of March.

Finally a No Spend Day

February 3rd, 2016 at 12:20 am

Looks like today will be my first no spend day in months. I'm here with dad and will be heading home shortly, when I realized I haven't spent a dime. So I'll be adding $2 on the BoA CC.

In healthy living news, today is day 2 and I have not had a soda, adding $1 to the BoA CC. I also walked a little over a mile today so another buck added to the CC. In all today, I'll be adding $4 payment to the BoA CC.

Well I Tried

February 2nd, 2016 at 03:24 am

I really tried today to make it a no spend day but that didn't happened. Needed a few girly things so I headed to the store. While I was there I went ahead and picked up snack and dinner for tomorrow.

I did workout today. I started back walking/running. I want to train myself to run at least a 3k

I will say this, today was the first day in awhile that I did not have a soda, yay! I was so excited, and to be honest I wasn't even craving one.

In financial news, I checked my checking account and I had $.90 worth of change so I rounded down and added the $.90 to the credit card. Because I worked out and didn't have a soda I added two more dollars to the $.90, giving me a total of $2.90 paid on the CC.

That's it in a nutshell. Hopefully tomorrow I won't spend a dime.

$20 Challenge

January 30th, 2016 at 10:08 pm

Yep, dad gave me a $100 today and I transferred it to my savings, I'm at $2182.29, can't wait to get paid to hit the $2200 mark.

Also added $9 to the CC, have to stop eating out, this is adding up.

Tomorrow, I plan on making chicken and stuffing in the crockpot.

On our way to the fair, haven't been there in years.

Every little bit count

January 30th, 2016 at 02:51 pm

I know when I blog I stay on track, I hate when things throw me off, when that happens I stop blogging and start spending. Have to stay focus.

With that said, I'm trucking right along. The BF took care of my car's oil change and filled me up. I didn't ask how much he paid, but I estimated about $60 for everything. So I added the $60 to my $20/52 Week challenge. New total $2,082.26. I'm so happy.

Dad and I will be running errands and he usually give me a $100 on the days we do this. Even though I tell him he don't have to he always do. He says he'll rather give it to his kids than other people who will sure enough take it.

I splurged and had McDonalds for breakfast $3.60 so I paid $3.60 on the BoA credit card, I figured if I have extra to eat out then I have money to pay down debt.

Lastly, we are getting our security cameras installed. It saddens me that we are in an age where Big Brother always have to be watching. Awful

Dining out

January 29th, 2016 at 09:02 pm

Went out to lunch with an colleague and spent $20 so I decided to pay $20 on CC1, how I see it if I can eat out I can pay extra on the CC.

New total $1000

Cash App

January 29th, 2016 at 03:37 am

I've been using the Cash app now for quite sometime, and when ever I refer someone, that person and I get $5 when they use the app. The great thing about it is that it's free and instant, unless you link a credit card, that's 3%. What I love about it is that the person that you're sending or receiving funds from do not have your account info.

So with that my neice sent me cash, for some items I'm selling and I got $5. I added this to my $20/52 week challenge, new total $1,973.26. πŸ˜„

Here's my code if you're interested.

Try the Cash app using my code and we’ll each get $5! FGHTDRQ

$44

January 28th, 2016 at 02:38 am

So I go to dad's and he has a ton of ones for me, $44 worth. Apparently he hates ones and throws them to the side. So today he decided to give them to me, I told him yes, I'll take that, thank you very much.

Added $44 to my $20/52 week challenge, new balance $1,968.26
Friday is payday and I'll be adding week 49 ($49) deposit, and that my dear will put me at $2,000 before February. I'm so excited. I'm hoing to hit 5k by June.

So Glad I did what I did

January 26th, 2016 at 03:14 pm

Last year I became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I knew that there were going to be a number of events that I would want to participate in and decided to open a second account, for this purpose. I must say, I am so glad I did this. I was able to save about $300 since December and just recently I had to order somethings. What I'm so proud about is that I paid for those items without feeling stressed, and that it was easy as 123. It's just nice to have the funds available at the ready to do what I need to do.

On the saving side of things, I received $15 from the Cash app for three referrals. I decided to deposit $8 to the house fund and $7 to the new home fund. Since this wasn't money earned, I thought why not use it to pay down debt and beef up the savings.

Yesterday I did not workout so I paid $2 on BoA CC.

That's it for now, I'll check back in shortly.

Split the extra cash

January 21st, 2016 at 03:16 pm

Though I had said that any extra money received that I Woolf put towards the house, but I find the need to add funds to my CC debt as well.
Last night I received an extra $30 from dad, so I added half to the $20/52 week challenge and the other half to CC1

New totals
Challenge $1906,26
CC1 $1053.00

It's a struggle but I'm trying. Hopefully today will also be my first no spend day if the year and I can add $5.00 to my challenge.

Trucking along

January 20th, 2016 at 09:32 am

Yesterday dad gave me $100, so I added it my $20/52 week challenge. I thought my balance was 1,791.26, but I was surprised to learn that it was actually $1,891.26. I have my fingers crossed that I will hit my goal of $2000 before February.

I have some change that I need to cash in, I think that's about $80. I've been putting it off because the credit union has moved, normally I would go there and they'll feed the change through a machine. Now with my local bank, I have to roll the coins. I know it's no excuse, I just really don't want to do that .😑

$25 Birthday Gift

January 19th, 2016 at 02:31 am

My mom gave me $25 today for my birthday. I almost fell out of my chair, the woman never gives away anything, particularly money.
So rather than spending it, I added to my $20/52 Week Challenge, new balance is 1,751.26.

I read my vision board every day so that I stay on track and I'm blogging to do the same. Our landlord wants to sale this place and she's giving us first dibs so we really need to make sure that our funds are in place. Even if we end up not buying this place, at least have money available for a possible move.

My birthday was yesterday and very low key, usually we're heading out of town but not this year. We had happy hour at the house with friends and that was actually nice.

That's it in a nutshell.

Extra $40

January 12th, 2016 at 11:31 pm

So dad gave me an extra $40 and I'm adding it to my house/challenge fund.

New total $1,676.26. I'm pretty certain by February I'll hit $2,000.

This weekend I'll be entering in more receipts, I can't wait until this is done. But hey, at least I'm trying.

2016

January 11th, 2016 at 02:03 am

Trying to stay on track for 2016.

Dad gave me $200 today so I deposit the entire amount I ton my house challenge fund. If I said it once I said it a 1000x so long as I'm blogging, i, on track.

I also, started to enter in receipts that I haven't entered in months, so that I can finalize my 2016 spending and create a new budget. I also cleared out my closet getting rid of four items I also got rid of two items out of the kitchen cabinet that were expired. It's a slow process but I'm trying to finally declutter.

Tomorrow, I'll buy a bin yo house all my Valentine's Day Decorations so that things are easy to find. Next month I'll get one for the St. Patrick Day stuff.

That's it in a nutshell I'll update my sidebar tomorrow.

Time to move on

August 3rd, 2015 at 12:46 am

Okie dokie we are back from PA. We had my BF family reunion and of course I ended up spending money I should not have.

I asked the BF to move out. Prior to us going on this trip he still owed $120.00 for the airfare, now he owes me $200+ for cable, $75 for luggage and $281 for the rental car. I told him prior to going that I did not want to be responsible for anything concerning this trip. I foot the bill for the Derby because that was something that I always wanted to do, this was his trip. He wants to talk things out, but I'm done, financially, we are not on the same page, and I am tired.

On a different note I am tackling CC4, I caught the devil trying to set up automatic payments of $10 per week but I was able to do it.

I've managed to bump my IRA to $396.71, and still able to add $15 a week to that. Not to mention I signed up for the company's 401(k) at 3% that averages about $33 per pay period.

I was also able to bump my $20/52 Week challenge to $2211.30; I would love to hit the 5k mark by December, but it doesn't look like it unless I get a job paying more.

Lastly, I have been on two interviews with the same company and will be going in for my third on Wednesday. I am pretty confident that I have the job, but I won't post anything until I receive my offer letter.

That's in in a nutshell

Saved $30

June 28th, 2015 at 11:23 pm

Today I decided to wash and color my own hair, had I gone to a salon this would have cost me about $35.

So I decided to add $15 to my 52 week/$20 Challenge and I paid $15 on CC4.

I realized that I need to save about $16,000 as down payment for a $80k fixer upper. Right now I've socked away $2087.53, goal is to have at least $5k saved by the end of the year. It feels great to put a number on the amount I need.

CC3 is back!

June 27th, 2015 at 02:25 am

Ugh! Received a bill from CC3, apparently the card wasn't paid off and there was some interest accrued; therefore, I owe $12.39 😑
I paid it it but this just annoyed me. I can now say goodby officially.

On a different note, I have started tackling CC4 and this week alone I added an extra $35.

I've also upped my 52 Week/$20 challenge to $2070. Things are going great. Hopefully I can get this card down by half by the end of the year.

Hit my $2k

June 21st, 2015 at 05:45 pm

Well I did it! I hit the $2,000 mark for my challenges πŸ˜ƒ

Added a dollar for losing a pound, and $15 for washing my own hair and not going to the salon. I'm so excited, I wanted to hit this amount before the end of the month. Now the goal is to hit 3K before October, fingers crossed.

I also paid another $15 on CC3, new balance $168

Saving while paying down debt

June 21st, 2015 at 01:31 am

Well made a $40 deposit to my 52 Week Challenge, since I'm on week 40. I also added $10 because dad gave me an extra $20. My new balance is $1984.53. I can't wait until I hit the 2k mark.

I also paid an extra $80 on CC3, bringing that total to $183. I'm cashing in my BoA points for cash so once I get the $120 I'll pay that amount on the CC. The goal is to have this thing out of my hair by July.

That's it in a nutshell

What a week

June 18th, 2015 at 01:11 am

Busy week.

Mom fell out of the bed and is wearing a neck brace, doctor thinks it's vertigo. She's doing better

Caught dad with the neighborhood prostitute. I was so shocked I couldn't say one word. I'll have to share the story later.

Had an interview, the job is perfect except for drive that is about 45 minutes away from my house without traffic. The company is currently five minutes away but will be moving. I have another interview Monday with a different company, I'll see how that goes. This one is about 20 -30 minutes.

I added $70 to my 52 week/$20 challenge, new total $1934. I'm so excited, it looks as though I may hit the 2k mark before the end of the month. I'm really trying, fingers crossed.

Got CC3 down to $263.50. Next week I'll be paying an extra $70 on this card so that will put me under the $200 mark. I was hoping to have it paid off by the end of the month but it looks like that won't happen until mid July. Better late than never.

Other than that, that's it in a nutshell. I weigh in tomorrow for Weight Watchers, I sort of fell off the wagon but I haven't used any extra points hopefully I've lost a little.
