Not Enough Hours in a Day

January 2nd, 2013 at 07:06 pm

Whew, super busy. First day back to work and we lost a coworker who was terminated last week. Honestly, she wasn't great for the job but I also think she was set up only because she was handed a mess and wasn't properly trained, the Agency failed her.

After work I hit Wall*Mart; not one of my favorite places, but I needed some items. Keep in mind I end up in a line with a problem and a manager was called. Next I went to another line to be skipped and the woman ahead of me held the line up checking price after price after price, only to tell the cashier she did not want the 15 or so items.

Next I made it home, updated my MS Money, made dinner, hula whooped for 20 minutes, completed the required professional development quizzes for grad school, read a chapter in my Bible, showered and now finally in bed. I am super tired, it seems as though there aren't enough hours in a day.

All in all I was able to add $18 to my challenge, giving me a grand total
of $26 since the start of the new year.
-$2 breakfast
- $2 lunch
-$ dinner
-$ 1 Bible read
$-1 work out
-$10 weekly $10 deposit to challenge.

Wow my boss was fired, I personally do not think it was right but who am I.

The job is very demanding, we are all working beyond what we should for hardly any pay or benefits for that matter but I am thankful for a job.

I'm a little sad about it though.

January 25th, 2012 at 03:44 am

I wish there was an app for SA. Please forgive me, I'm using my phone and will probably have a ton of grammatical errors Smile

Long story short, I love my job but I need to make more money. Spoke with my boss who stated that our grant has money that is slated for salary increases; however, she really has no control over her budget, which by the way is the reason the other supervisor quit. Actually, we have enough money to start every one off between 40k-45k and still be able to provide raises. But the Agency starts us off between 30-33k. Last year I had to hire an attorney in order to receive my salary increase. That is a long story that I will have to explain another time, just know that my former boss provided me some info, she probably could have lost her job but i received my salary increase.
Further more, I explained to my new boss that we are taking on additional responsibilities with no salary increase, another reason why one of the coordinators left. So basically with in 1 year we lost one coordinator and one project director.

In the end, I just sent my resume off for two positions. One similar to what I'm doing and the other is a little different.

Basically I can say this, it's not really the raise I'm concerned about, it's the misuse of federal dollars that I'm more concerned about.

Looked at my W2 and it's matched up with my pay stub, I'm short about $1000 for the year. Now I'm going to the account department but was wondering how can I calculate to make sure the correct amount is being received and deducted?

November 21st, 2011 at 04:17 pm

Thank goodness, I am off the rest of the week plus Monday. I am so happy, and to top it off my dentist office called to cancel my appointment. Yay! I really didn't have the funds anyway.

Today I had homemade breakfast, I skipped lunch because I was so busy, but I did have my lunch for dinner. Therefore $6 was added to my challenge/EF.

In addition, I received my mileage check from November, finally, so I added this to my checking account. This is a plus because being home for the rest of the week means I won't spend a thing and will have a nice amount to add to my challenge/ EF by the end of the pay period.

Since I won't be working I also calculated my mileage for November which totaled about $366 , I'll use this for the BF Christmas gift, not all of it of course. I really need a job where I am not doing too much traveling

Short week

November 20th, 2011 at 08:22 pm

I am so happy this is a short week as well as next week. I know I am going to pay for it when I return but, I'm exhausted. Don't get me wrong, I love my job but I am extremely tired. When conducting site visits I must drive an hour each way ( 2 hours on the road not fun) and those two hours really cost me a lot of missed work. But I am not complaining, thank you God for my job, there are many who do not have one

On a more positive note, I may have about $90 extra to add to my challenge/EF by the end of this pay period. In addition, as of this past week ending on Saturday, I have deposited over 100 dollars to my challenge/EF, imagine if I had started earlier. I am really happy about this, my goal is to save $1000 for the challenge by December 31st, and given that I started mid November and I am more than likely will be a little over half way to my goal by the end of December, I am really proud of myself.

For me, blogging keeps me accountable, and I am glad to be back

April 3rd, 2011 at 08:37 pm

First no spend occurrd yesterday, so $4 paid towards the CC, $2 towards the house fund, and $2 towards my personal saving. All in all $8 towards the challenge yesterday. Today a different story, I hit the grocery store and spent $50 Frown but some of the stuff I could have done without. To end the day on a good note, I washed my own hair and styled it. By doing so I was able to save $25 Smile so $15 was paid on the CC and $5 went towards the house fund. The other five went to my personal account. I'm so glad I'm back blogging, it keeps me on track.
On a different note, tomorrow is a staff retreat because we did very well on the audit. We are heading to Miami for the day and I'm having second thoughts because I do not want to spend money I do not have. My plan is to spend only $40 out of my personal account ( money saved for things I want, i.e shopping, pedicures etc) I do not want to spend money on day with my co-workers in Miami. Hopefully, I will not be pressured to buy anything, it's always hard for me to say NO.

Got the job

January 21st, 2010 at 10:53 pm

First I would like to thank God for pulling me through this last year, I had no idea how my bills were going to be paid but I did it.
After losing my job it became really hard, I used up my entire savings 6 months worth but at least I had that then I started to use my CCs but I was able to keep them afloat unlike so many others and I am truly thankful for that.
Yesterday I was offered a full time position at the agency in which I did some volunteer work for in the past and am currenlty working as a temp. Mind you this is the same place I interviewed for a different position four times already. Its about $2.40 more than what I am currently making with them and about $2.10 less than my previous salary but it is a heck of a lot more than unemployment so I am very happy.
My goal is to use this as a stepping stool to jump start my career with the elderly. It is a non profit agency which is great and will give me the experience I need with working with such an organization. It feels like the entire world has been lifted off my shoulders--- thank you God for this wonderful blessing and thank everyone here who has said a prayer and lifted my spirits

October 6th, 2009 at 04:05 pm

Well i had the interview yesterday at the hospital...i think it went ok. I also took a test for an officer manager's position and am just waiting for the hiring manager to call, apparently I did very well on it plus the unemployment office asked me to fax over an application. Lord I need a job like yesterday

October 2nd, 2009 at 12:24 pm

Well I received my laptop back and it cost me $250, I guess its better than buying a new one. At least I have a ton of new programs.

I received a call yesterday for a job, I passed the first interview and then took the computer test. I am just waiting to hear how I did on that, for some reason I think I did really well.

I also received a call from the hospital for an insurance verification position. At this point it is not what I am looking for but the goal is to get my foot in the door learn what I can and move up the chain.

$10 was added to the challenge, I cooked dinner today...yes on a Friday
So keep your fingers crossed and the prayers coming I really appreciate it

Offered a job

April 6th, 2009 at 06:55 pm

I was offered a job today and had to turn it down, had she called me last week I would have accepted. But I have since registered for school, found an internship and committed to it. Some times I second guess my decisions but this one I had no problem with and I do believe that it is God's will and I have made the right decision. I also got my unemployment check today to I transferred next month's car payment to my EF
Oh and my biopsy came back with very mild dysplasia nothing to worry about so I follow up with the doc in 6months
All in all I feel really good and excited about school

March 27th, 2009 at 05:19 pm

Well I received my tax return and of course my mom had her hand out. I usually give her $200 but since I am not working I gave her $150. I thought she would have said don't worry about it since I wasn't working but she took it anyway.... I should have known
So I wrote the check for my car, paid a $100 on the light bill, paid my internet bill, and cell phone bill all were paid early for the month of April. I'd rather have a credit than to be scrounging around next month trying to come up with the money. I also scheduled my May payment on CC number 2. Even though some of these funds won't be deducted until next month I went ahead and deducted them from my registrar.
I was also able to sock away $900 in to my savings account (this will cover two months car payments).
I should be getting my first unemployment check of about $600 so I'll pay May's car payment and put the remainder into my savings account
I forgot I got a gig next Tuesday answering the phone for $10 an hour for eight hours. This is the place in which I may intern. I went before to do some volunteer work and the HR woman really liked me but the woman she set me up with was so rude I never went back and she sense that. So when I contacted her for an internship she was really excited and then she ask me what hours I was looking for I told her I was wasn't working so any time before 5 since classes start in the summer at 4:45 anyhow she offered me this temporary gig. hmmm you never know I may get a job out of this and this place is a government agency

March 25th, 2009 at 04:00 am

This is why I simply decided to finish school. I get this call to come in for a interview yesterday so I say ok. Well an hour before our meeting the interviewer calls to cancel an reschedule. Ok fine, but an hour before our second meeting she cancels. This burns me up. Why call if you are so busy?
Anyhow the first day of the internship was ok, I'm feeling out things and go back on Thursday

Darn it

March 20th, 2009 at 05:20 pm

I got a call on Wednesday regarding a front desk position, when I called back the girl says to me that T wants you to come in and fill out an application and meet with some one. So I say when would be a good time she says Friday any time between 8:30 and 4. So today I go in at 10:30am only to be told that the office manager was not in and if I can come in on Monday or if I wanted to fill out the application. Basically she wanted me to come back and my response, I'll fill out the application and leave it. If she wants me to come in then she will call. I left my resume again and a few letter of recommendations
On a different note, I decided to go ahead and pay my auto insurance for a six month period since I have the money and have no idea when I would find a job ($632.09)
My classmate called to tell me she was just diagnosed with Lupus, so please keep her in your prayers
Tomorrow if I don't do anything else , I am going to the library

She did it again

March 18th, 2009 at 01:46 pm

Ok I'm in my room and my mom comes in with the mail and says to me M sent you your check. I say I know I checked this morning and it was deposited, she then says how much did he pay you? I absolutely hate when she does this, it is none of your business or anyone else for that matter how much money I make and besides I am not working so this money is going into my EF account to pay up coming bills, bottom line. But I simply said he paid me for the two weeks and left it at that
On a different note I got two hours in (studying) and actually found a couple more jobs I could apply for. Now I'm going to read "Beneath the Bruises" which is a book on domestic violence

Getting involved

March 18th, 2009 at 10:01 am

I have decided to attend different functions in the community pertaining to health care. I figured this will give me an opportunity to get involved as well an opportunity to meet some executives and network. I was planning on doing this anyway but never got around to it, wish I had
Anyhow on the job front, nothing. I only saw two possible openings and applied for both. It amazes me you apply for a ton of positions and only get a couple of calls

1 hour wait

March 17th, 2009 at 12:03 pm

I was so ticked off the person at hospital B had me waiting for over 1 hour, what if I had showed up an hour late.
First I didn't eat breakfast because I really wasn't hungry. I get there about 10 minutes early and was told that the person I thought I was meeting was running 15 minutes late due to an accident(which I later find out was a lie by the interviewer he was in a meeting), Then I'm told to allow 20 minutes and before I know it a little over an hour goes by and finally meet with this guy who pretty much ask me the same question as in the last interview and I'm there now close to two hour. If I really didn't need a job I would have left
I called hospital A where I really want to work to see if the position was filled and was told they were still interviewing but someone from within wants the position Frown meaning 9 times out of 10 they'll get it
In the end when I left the interview I was told to allow 3 weeks plus I was starving so I went to Wendy's
Today's total job application submitted 6

Another call

March 16th, 2009 at 05:39 pm

I got another call today from a neurology office to come in for an interview, unfortunately I missed the call Frown but will call first thing in the morning, the woman called me around 6pm and when I called back it was about 6:30 and the office was closed. I think she was making calls after hours
I decided to go into the library and pick up a book so that I'll have something to read since I'm home.
Tomorrow is a big day, my to do:
-Fax resume to two location
-Call Dr's office to schedule an interview
-Second interview with hospital B
-Deposit Pinecone check
-Mail application to the city of LW
-Work on paper
-Study finance

Busy day

March 16th, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Well went with my dad to his rental property and I'm tired. After our pow wow I really don't want to be involved with him and his property but neither he nor my brother know what their doing
I ended up spending money today Frown about $5 at Burger King and another $5 at the produce stand which was well worth it and $102 for the electric bill which is not due until April but since I'm not working I figured I may as well pay it while I have the money
I got a call from hospital number 2 for a second interview tomorrow which is a good sign, not the location or time slot I want but hey it's a job and since I am dying to get in the hospital after graduation, this will be great.
Oh I got $3 from Pinecone today

Applying for jobs

March 15th, 2009 at 10:16 am

Well Friday I didn't submit any applications but I did go back and check to see if anything was posted that I would be interested in and there was nothing. Today however, I was able to apply for 5 positions and later I will fax my resume to three locations bringing my total to 8 for the day. I have a feeling that this is the week I would be offered a job, just something in side is telling me (since my lay) that I would be offered a job my second week of being unemployed...I hope so

Interview II

March 13th, 2009 at 02:26 pm

Went in for an interview at a different hospital there were two different openings. One for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday from 7pm to 7am and the other per diem. I'd rather the over night shift because it's gull time with benefits. I got a call from MD that my paps was positive so she wants to do some procedure, I went ahead and scheduled for next Thursday before my insurance runs out
So my first week of being unemployed, I've applied for over 20 positions and had 4 interviews
On a different note I was so tempted today to go to Burger King twice, but I said to myself [i]you are not working[i]
Tonight I'll do my taxes and get them out, I need the money

March 13th, 2009 at 10:06 am

I went to an interview today for a security company, totally different than my background. Hours are from 8-5 and is a temporary position from April-September with the possibility of full-time. They gave me the paper work for a drug test so I'm pretty sure I got the job, but I really wanted the one at the hospital near my house. I have another interview today for a per Diem position which is an on call gig at another hospital hmmmm we'll see
