saved $15

August 4th, 2007 at 09:32 pm

Saved $15 today plus the item I bought was tax free (tennis shoes) I was looking for some new tennis shoes and Penney's had them on sale and since it is tax free week I decided go for it
I am adding the $15 to the challenge, $7.50 towards my new home and $7.50 my car. My mom was laughing because I send $5 here and $10 there on my ca but it adds up and I figure the more I pay it down the better

$1 a day earning

June 9th, 2007 at 06:46 am

I am earning about a buck a day in interest on my ING account Smile that is nice, I can't wait until I am able to double hell triple this amount. It's nice feeling to be interested in how much money I am earning. So of course all this extra money will be going to my new home

Great week

June 7th, 2007 at 07:47 pm

Well my week is ending and it was great.I brought my lunch and breakast for the last 5 days to work and also had dinner at home Smile So a buck for the day was added to my challenge ($5) since I am adding the $5 a day to my cc that too is down (this was because I did not eat out)
I also took my mid-term and missed only 3 questions Smile

New challenge $4080

No spend day

June 4th, 2007 at 07:25 pm

Today was a no spend day and I normally add $5 to my challenge/home account but since I have accumalated CC debt I added it to my credit card.

However, I did add my weekly $25 to my challenge today. I use to do this thing with my mom and family members where we all put in X amount of dollars and we each got a draw. I figured why not earn interest on my money and besides, that was a time when I couldn't save a dollar

New cc debt $1279.37
Challenge home balance $4055.43

$30 to the challenge

June 1st, 2007 at 03:02 pm

I just added to $30 I would have spent at tne hair salon to my challenge. I decided not to go this week and try the week and a half method vs the every week method at $30 a pop

New total $4047.38

Thanks to everyone

May 30th, 2007 at 05:36 pm

I just wanted to say thanks to every one on this site, who not only read my blogs but encourage me as well. I have come a long way and still have a way to go but blogging has really help me open my eyes. Now you all know that I got a bonus today and the old me would have thought about all the things I could buy but instead my focus was on upping my challenge.

I feel as though we are one big family here and I am comfortable with blogging and sharing things that I am afraid to share with family members or friends. I don't know but we all share something here and it is wonderful.

I am aware that $4000 to some is not a lot but to me I feel like a millionare, lol... I have never just saved $4000 not even $200 for that matter. lol but any how I am happy

Last year, I wrote about my attempted suicide and my battle with depression, I can honetly say sincee I have joined this site I am the happiest I have every been in a long time (even though I am single)

Just felt like I needed to share this with you and again I just want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!

oops I forgot I added $7 more dollars to my challenge

New total $4007.00

PS for anyone who is going through anything, I know how you feel; just hang in there the best is yet to come Smile

I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 30th, 2007 at 10:10 am

What a nice surprise today I got a two week bonus check in addition to my regular pay Smile I am so happy. So I transferred the funds to my challenge (may as well since I was not expecting it ) and I have met my $4000 goal for my challenge this month. I am so excited. Now for June I need to up my challenge from $4000 to $6000 and then I will be on track with adding $1000 a month for the year. I can actually sense one day I will be a home owner Smile wow am I happy

New total for my challenge a whopping $4000 the most I have ever saved yippie

Broke the cycle

May 29th, 2007 at 01:02 pm

I was on a roll and just broke my cycle today not only did I buy breakfast but lunch als0 Frown so I had to add $11 to the challenge. It is not the $11 that I am upset about but the fact that I was too lazy to pack lunch

New total $2660.94

loving the challenge

May 27th, 2007 at 05:45 am

I like the idea of the $20 challenge, since starting I have been really saving and not touching these funds. I just added another $10 for not buying breakfast or lunch new total $2644.94(I made a mistake in an earlier post regarding my balance). At my age I am a shame to admit but I never had a savings with more than about $200 or so dollars, it feels really good
When ever I add even just a dollar I know I am closer to home ownership

What goes up must come down

May 26th, 2007 at 04:50 pm

Well that is not the case with my challenge (knock on wood) I have been fortunate to add and continue to add with out withdrawing, I am so happy. I just added $9 which brings my total to $2694.94 I was really hoping to have atleast $3000 by the end of the month but no such luck; my original goal was $4000 but minor things came up

Great News

May 16th, 2007 at 07:17 pm

I contacted my brother when I was in my depressing mode(comparing myself to others) and ask if he was selling or wanted to sell one of his lots, well when I calm down from my hiatuses he called today and said he will give me one (free ) if I wanted Smile isn't that great I am so happy, I did however offer to help him pay on it ($150 a month for about a year) I am sooooo happy, the deal is not quite final but I am sure it will be no doubt

So now I can really start socking away for my house because he said he would help me build I am just soooo happy right now, by doing this I am sure I would save about $80,000 in the long run

$ 20 challenge

May 13th, 2007 at 05:55 am

Just added $7 to the challenge for not buying breakfast for two days and not buying lunch yesterday. I am doing really well with cutting back on the dining out. Friday, however I did splurge and hit TGIF for lunch but other than the one minor set back I am doing great this month

New total $2411.01

Getting closer ...

May 12th, 2007 at 09:06 am

To home ownership that is. When ever I add any amount to my challenge it is a reality that I am actually serious about home ownership and I am actually making progress and not just talking about it. I just feel so good; even though my additions may not be much but it all adds up. I just added $3 for 3 loads of clothes that I line dried rather than using the dryer bringing my total to $2404.01 Smile My goal is to have $12,000 by the end of this year and another 12,000 by the end of next year brining my total to $24,000, which should be a nice down payment

No dining out

May 10th, 2007 at 07:02 pm

I have done very well when it comes to dining out; I have been brown bagging it and have lunch and dinner at home Smile so that is good news.

My dad also gave me $20 so I added this to the callenge as well as $4 (two days no breakfast) and $6 (two days--not buying lunch

new total is $2389.01

Busy day

May 9th, 2007 at 05:28 pm

First I'd like to say how my day went:

I got up early today in order to make breakfast and there was no eggs so I ended up buying breakfast for mom & I ($6 added to the challenge)

Then I took my car to the shop and the mechanic did not charge me for the a/c Smile but he fixed my lighter (that I asked him to look at over a month ago and now did not want fix) that was $48. It actually worked out to my benefit because now I can bring my laptop along and charge my cell phone when low.

I also was able to find a used but practically new book for school at $29, not bad

Now in regards to my goal I added $9.91 to my cchallenge today I am desperately trying to reach $4000 before the end of the month, I really hope I can or come close to it

Saved some money today...

May 8th, 2007 at 01:13 pm

By using a coupon. I went to The Honey Baked Store today and bought a mini ham for $19.99 and used my little coupon which saved me $4.63, I added this amount to my challenge. I also made myself breakfast this morning so that was another $2 saved and this was added to my challenge

New total $2344.62

$20 Challenge

May 6th, 2007 at 07:43 pm

Well thus far this month has been really great compared to last month and my dining out. I actually made breakfast and lunch today Smile even though I usually make lunch on the weekends and not the weekdays it still felt great. Anyhow I added $2 for not having breakfast out and $1 for line drying clothes today

New total $2326.92

Looks like I am back on the saving wagon when it comes to dining out

Trying to meet my goal

May 5th, 2007 at 07:32 am

Of $4000 for this month's challenge, we'll see. I just added the following

$2 had breakfast at home
$5 packed lunch today
$3 line dried 3 loads of clothes

=$11

New total for the challenge $2323.92

Looking for money

May 2nd, 2007 at 06:30 pm

To add to my challenge and guess what I found it. So I was able to save $3.01 at the drug store on my meds and another $2.69 on the water bill so I added another $5.70 to my challenge brining my total to $2300.12 Smile I am happy. I have $1700 left to go, I know I set my goals really high (trying to reach $4000)but if I can come close to that amount by the end of the month I will be happy
We'll have to see

Rockin' n Rollin'

May 2nd, 2007 at 02:42 pm

Yep it is day 3 and I have not dined out for breakfast or lunch Smile Looks like I started the month off right. So I added $5 to the challenge as well as an additional $20 brining my new total to $2294.42

100%

April 22nd, 2007 at 07:43 am

That's right I got a 100% right on my test Smile Actually I missed 2 but I got both of the bonus questions right, I was sooo happy because this class is hard as %$#%^ so I am adding $3 to my new home account since I got an "A"

New total $2228.75

$20 challenge

April 22nd, 2007 at 07:37 am

I have been adding to the challenge like crazy because I have been dining out like crazy. The only good thing is that my challenge is going up but I have got to get off my lazy behind and start cooking breakfast, lunch is not too bad but it is the breakfast that I keep buying.
I actually made breakfast today so I added $2.00 to my challenge

New total for the challenge $2225.75

Just an update

April 16th, 2007 at 06:03 pm

Well today was payday and I upped my IRA contributions from $25 a pay period to $50, I know I will not be maxing out but it is better than nothing. Unfortunately my job has no retirement benefits. Anyhow I also added $133.86 to my challenge which gives me a new total of $2174.41 I know I will not make my $3000 goal for the month but I will keep trying
