Payday and I am not broke

October 5th, 2006 at 08:42 am

I never experienced paydays when I am not broke. Since I have taken on this seriousness with my finances I always seem to have some cash left over until the next pay period. I just checked the bank and my funds are there from the part-time job ($234.90). So to even everything out I paid $34.90 on the cc debt.

Previous total: $2584.36
New total:$2549.26
Challenge total:$393.15

Congratulations! I am usually broke right after pay day, except that I do have savings I don't touch.

One of the rewards of coming to grips with the whole financial thing is the joy of that surplus. When I make it through my budget week and have cash left over, I add that to my "found mony" savings and start the new week fresh. It's an incentive to me to be watchful about my spending impulses.

It is a wonderous feeling to have something left after the bills are paid. It sounds like you have things well in hand at this point. Keep up the good work!Smile

That's great! I occasionaly have a surplus too, especially when a projected bill comes in lower (utilities are a great example). I put the extra either towards my credit card or into savings, depending on where I'm at financially at the moment.

This is part of what they mean when they say "financial freedom". You aren't a slave to payday anymore!

Congratulations! It's got to feel good getting a grip on finances and cc debt payoff, then finding that you have money at the end of the month instead of broke(which to me is depressing).

I had set an original goal this year of $300 savings. Due to a number of financial setbacks(mostly kid and school expenses) it does not look like I'm going to make it. What has changed drastically for me this year is that I am no longer broke at the end of each month. For me, buying 2 to 3 rolls of quarters, and saving all my change(those pennies really do add up), I am rarely ever below $20 by the 25th of each month. It feels so empowering to know that I have at least $20 or more instantly available to me in case of an emergency or the kitties need more cat food. (grins) With six cats, they eat a lot.
