Second Interview

There was a position in the paper for a front desk person but no fax number, so I called and the girl said to come in and fill out an application at 5:30. At first I wasn't going to go because I thought there would be a ton of people there but three of my friends all said I should go so I went.
This Dr. was a jerk his only question was are you married, do you have children? First of all this is illegal and I almost said that to him. Then he stated his office hours were from 6:30 to 7pm and they worked through lunch. I'm thinking you can't force some one to work through lunch. Then he said if he offered me the job I would have to choose between school and work. Now the hours of operation posted on the door stated from 7:20am to 4pm and my classes start at 7pm
I need a job but I would not drop my class that will be over in may that I already paid for

    Um. Don't touch that one. He completely crossed the line, and broke the law. He CANNOT ask you those questions, and you CANNOT work through lunch. Labor laws (at least I don't think they vary by state).

    Umm No thank you I understand you really need a job but those were two red flags right there. I'd go elsewhere now there is a reason he's hiring. lol

    as soon as I posted this post; I sent an email to my two state senators about the practices of employers and what happened to me and I also sent an email to the govenor, secretary of labor, our president, and state representatives here. I know they may not read them but it felt good to send I just hope more and more people would do the same

    Oh man, what a complete A$$hole!!! People like this have no reason to even try to hire anyone since no one would ever want to work for them. Glad you've got lots more leads, Amber!

    good on you for reporting his practices. i would have done the same. i feel sorry for the person that eventually gets the job.

    Wow, what an accommodating employer....NOT! Glad you reported him. He must have had his head in the sand for the last umpteen years to ask those kind of questions. I'm not sure what kind of doctor he is, but if he's that far behind on things, I wouldn't want him as an employer OR a doctor!

    Wow, that guy's a winner. Glad you sent off those emails! And I agree with Whitestripe, you have to feel sorry for the person who gets that job.
