Too much Facebook

January 20th, 2016 at 07:25 pm

Well today was a day. I decided at 4:30 am that I will forgo Facebook for one week. I realize I spend way too much time surfing, reading and rereading the same posts. I almost went on during work and decided to delete the app.

I couldn't believe that I woke up this morning, grab my phone and the first thing I did was check Facebook. It's sad. I'll say it was tough, not wanting to see what everybody was doing but I got through the day.

Dad ask me to pay a bill for him, he gave me a $100 and told me to keep the change, about $34. I'm struggling with adding this to my challenge, I've done so good thus far adding all extra cash but I realized I have $294 left in my checking to last me until next Friday. Ugh. I'll play it by ear, I guess.

I also came home and made chili for dinner, this is my second time making it and I must say, it was delicious. The first time I made it, used the crockpot and it was so-so. This time, I used Morcormick chili mix, chopped onions, celery, green peeper, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and the rest of the items for chili. I couldn't believe how good it was, plus there's left overs for tomorrow.

That's it in a nutshell, nothing else to report.

I'm the same way about Facebook! I couldn't quite give it up because I use it to participate in a lot of groups (real life meetups as well as virtual ones) and communicate with my friends in lieu of email or phone calls, but what I did was unfollow everyone. That way I'm still friends with people but their posts don't show up on my feed. All I get on my feed are a few news sites, my partners' posts, and some activist groups' posts, and I can send and receive messages and check in on my various social groups. I still find myself checking it, but since there aren't many things being added to the feed I don't spend as much time on it each time I do.

I probably spend too much time on FB too. Not quite at the point where I want to limit it though. Smile

I plan to have a Digital Disconnect Day on Sunday. I will not get on my computer or phone(or than to talk).

I've been on a Facebook fast for two and a half weeks. My friends and family are far from me so I won't give it up completely, but I have barely missed it! I plan on fasting the rest of the month. I uninstalled it on my tablet and phone. I plan on only going back to it once a day on my computer.

Yes, Facebook is often a time suck! Ugh. Good luck with your week without.

I've started only using Facebook on the weekends - and it frees up so much time! It also reduces stress dramatically. I tend to be more frustrated by the things I see than uplifted. Just a thought Smile

Thanks everyone and PJMama I totally agree, some of the things I see I want to scream.
