Weekend Shenanigans

March 18th, 2018 at 09:52 pm

Tackling the debt was the best thing I could have done.

Just looked at my budget for the next budget period and realized I can put 20 to 25 percent of my income into savings and still pay a little extra on the CC. Though I'd love to do that, I'm going to throw it at CC4 to get it down to $400 or less. Then I'll add a little to the EF to bump me over the $1200 mark.
This is all after paying my tithes first. God has truly blessed me. My prayer is that I continue on this path with no looking πŸ‘€ back. One of these days I'm going to be that person, walking around handing out $100 bills during Christmas time.

When you're doing what you are suppose to, you not only pay bills on time, something I never had a problem with, but you're way ahead of schedule. I usually pay the BoA credit card πŸ’³ with the last check of the month because it's not due until the 2nd or 3rd, but for some reason I paid it the last budget period. Lol. I couldn't believe I had done that, and to be honest I'm not sure why. Maybe God wanted me to see the fruits of my labor.

I'm so loving this.

Saturday I went into a beauty supply store, and casually mentioned I wouldn't mind working part time, the owner's son offered me a job. I was like wow! They know me, I frequent the location, but the problem is that I can only do two Saturdays and month and Sundays are out, God has been too good for me not to worship. I'm going to pray on it and see if something doesn't work itself out where I can take on the extra job. I can use the extra cash to pay down student loan debt πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŽ“. That would be awesome.

I forgot to mention that the SO suggested that we go out for ice cream 🍦 St. Paddy's Day πŸ€. We're doing this less tv πŸ“Ί thing. I was a little hesitant but thought why not? Long story short, ice cream 🍦 and a milkshake was $20 at Kilwins, yikes! I wanted to scream but kept my mouth shut 🀐 . For the last two weeks he's been doing pretty good. But I couldn't help but wonder why couldn't we add this $20 to the EF or debt? I need to stop focusing on finances so much and enjoy life, but not to the point that I'm back where I started. I find myself not wanting to spend the fun money πŸ’° that I budget πŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ.

Honestly; it was a nice outing. We people πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦watched, found a really cool bookstore πŸ“š , and a super cozy coffee β˜•οΈ shop that just so happen to be having spoken words, so we sat in. All in all it was a great weekend.

Congrats on all your hard work and progress. Don't wait too long on the job offer if y ou'd really like to do it or they may give it to someone else.

You can always beat yourself up over spending anything. I don't think $20 for an afternoon of joy was bad and as you said, you aren't doing it all the time. Glad it was a pleasant time.

Hope you can work out a feasible schedule on the extra job for everyone involved.

I hope the milkshake and ice cream were really good. A once-in-a-while treat is not the end of the world. But maybe you can find a place that has cheaper cones and milkshakes next time. We have had good luck finding great shakes at diners and drive-ins for only $3.99. Our favorite drive-in has flavors like root beer, orange, mint, and pineapple, as well as the more standard flavors. They also have an inexpensive double cone, too. Most diners we've gone to will just let you order the shake in a to go cup at the cash register, so no table service and thus no tip necessary.
