Oh Well

May 8th, 2019 at 09:32 am

Ha ha so I went to cash the estate check and was unable to. The documents I have are expired. To be honest I’m not worried about it. I was looking forward to paying off the CC.

Unfortunately my ignorant brother held on to the check for months and the deadline to cash is the 14th. I’m unable to take off any additional days from work nor do I have the money to get the documents extended. To be honest I’m not even upset. I’m content.
Oh well

I think you need to revisit this decision. You’re doing it to aggravate your brother. Two wrongs don’t make it and right. Also this was a blessing for you and you just made the decision to throw it away. In previous blogs you have rejoice when you make less than $5 on some rebate site. If it will cost additional money to get the necessary paper, then document the process and reimburse yourself from the check.

If my attorney tells me I can reduce his earnings then I will but other than that I’m not going to bother. To be honest I thought am I being spiteful and in a sense yes; however I’ve learned that all money isn’t good money and to be dealing with him paying unnecessary attorney fees just isn’t worth it. I can use that money for my debt, if he was a reasonable person, I’d pay the $400 or so dollars, for me it’s not only the principal but my sanity. I’m at a place of contentment

I don’t think ithe $400 should come from you. It should come from the proceeds of the check. It’s not about dealing with him, it’s about leaving money on the table. In a previous post, this was a praise report. If the attorney says you can’t take the fees from the check, then I would let the attorney relay to your brother, either split the fees or there will be no money for anyone.

DW you’re correct it was a praise and still could be. I won’t go into details but dealing with my brother it’s worth walking away. He’s pure evil

You know him best. Just remember, he knows that check exist and if he doesn’t get the money he’s expecting, he could go “super evil”.

I thought you said God sent you this money. So how can it be evil? Honestly, I'd feel like I was ignoring that gift from God by just letting this go. I think you will kick yourself later.

How did he get it and hold on to it in the first place if you were the executor of the estate?
