Living off old salary

October 5th, 2006 at 12:14 am

Ok now that I got my raise which is almost $50.00 extra each pay period, I will live as though I did not receive this extra money and transer all funds to my EF. I was thinking about using it towards my debt but I already pay twice as much on that and since I want about $6000.00 saved before I actually start saving for a house, so for now I am living as if I did not get a raise

I like that idea. If Hubby gets a raise next year, I think I'll do the same and put it away. Smart.

That's what I'm considering when I get my annual raise in January. Keeping my budget the same and shoving the extra to something productive, either savings or debt reduction. We'll see. I also will be changing my withholdings back to 1 (from 2) in January so I don't know yet how that will affect my budget.

My deductions use to be zero because I wanted the huge tax returns, but blogging, reading and watching all the financial guru's changedmt mind...and it helped a lot. Good luck lady

DH and I will be doing the same thing with our raises this year. We should get our checks next week with our raises retroactive from Sept. 1...all of this will go toward debt.
