Today' spending

January 5th, 2009 at 04:08 am

After I left the gym today I was so tempted to head into Khol's and buy a few yoga pants. On my way to the gym I noticed the huge 60% sign, it took a lot for me not to go in but I'm glad I didn't
Today's spending:
Expense Categories
Groceries $9.08
Misc.(Loan to sister) $300.00

Grand Total -$309.08

It would have been a great day had I not loaned my sister the money

it's something you can't help. you will get the money back though? if i loan people money and i expect it back, i don't count it as an expense. right now i am waiting on about $600 from a few people to pay for accomodation later this month. i have recorded my expense ($152) but not theirs, because once i get it back i haven't spent it. My sister can not be trusted so I have to log these funds in order to keep track of when she paid and how much

Amber: Just look at all the things that you are doing to not spend money. You are doing what no one else is willing to do. If it messed up your day that much, you shouldn't have lent her the money. Sometimes, you have to turn the spigot off.

You are very generous to lend your sister money, and hopefully, you will get it back.

My dh lent his cousin $500 over a year ago and he has not seen a penny of it yet. At the time, I told dh that he should consider it a "gift" because his cousin is really struggling financially and would have a hard time repaying it. Dh "lent" the money but never mentions it to his cousin... it's as if it never happened. Lending to friends and family can lead to the unraveling of the relationship.
