Stipend received

Ok I receieved a check (partial) from the stipend that I am doing with a local organization in the amount of $500 Smile It was a nice surprise because I thought I would not receive this money until the end of the project. The rest is due to come at the end of the stipend.
Of course my mom checked the mail and the first thing she said was here is the check you've been watining on and me not thinkng opened the enevlope and said oh this is from P then her response was how much did you get. I ABOSLUTLEY HATE IT WHEN SHE ASK ME ABOUT MY ^&((&^$ FINANCES. So because I am caught off guard I say $500, her response oh you can take me to lunch tomorrow. When in Hell was the last time she has taken me out to lunch even on my birthday I paid for us to have dinner. She knows I am not working and every penny that I get I put in my EF to pay my bills. It just really ticks me off that she always has her hand out. I pray that I can finish school land a job and buy me a house to get out of here.
However, the check that I am expecting from another company still have not come Frown Sorry to vent but I was so upset

    Are you living in your mother's house? If she is able to snoop through your personal mail because you live in her house or when she comes to your house if you are living on your own, you might consider getting a P.O. box. What she did is not only an invasion of privacy, it's also against federal law.

    crazyliblady beat me to my suggestion. I think a P.O. Box is in order as long as you're living with your Mom. She isn't respecting your privacy. The cost may be worth it in the long run. Glad you received your check.

    Unfortunately I live at home, my mom did not open my mail she checked the mail box and brought me the mail and then waited as I opened it (I wasn't thinking) She's the type no matter what, if you get a buck she wants 20 cents she thinks she is entitled to what ever money you get

    Even if she doesn't open it, she still is checking out who it comes from, so it's like she knows all of your business.

    I collect my neighbors mail when she is away and I can't tell you what she receives. I collect it and put it in a plastic bag as it arrives. The neighbor doesn't even want her grown children to pick up her mail. Check out the mail box prices. I think that is a boundary that you need to put out there for your Mom.

    Uh-oh Amber, you are falling off the radar! Must be that Facebook thing! I'm trying to get here more often myself to keep my financial focus up. But I hate dealing with it, so I have to try extra hard.
