Shopped My Closet

January 26th, 2020 at 01:33 pm

My glasses and contacts were $340, I had $230 in my HSA account. The difference for me to pay is $110. I’ve got to bump the dollar amount of my contributions.

Well I actually had selected enough but the payroll team keeps screwing up. I’ll reach out to the controller tomorrow. For some reason the amount is always less.

Last night I attended a dinner event, hosted by one of the fraternities. I’m so proud of myself because I shopped my closet vs going out and buying something. The old me would have bought a new outfit for the event.

Lastly, I completed day 26 of no dining out, feeling great!

Good job on using your HSA to buy glasses and contacts. I too, bought new lenses and frames last year. It was awesome to not have to worry about how to pay for it for the first time ever.

And the thing about your HSA contributions would have me very suspicious about whoever handles that. Is the rest of the money from your contribution from your pay still in your paycheck? If not, where did it go?

@Crazylady, the total amount of my check is correct. I’ve spoken with the payroll coordinator on how she processes payroll but she’s so old school it’s ridiculous. Thankfully she’s moving to a different department.

Grand idea to shop your closet!

Sorry your payroll person can't get the amount right. I had a problem a number of years ago when we were encouraged to do payroll deduction for a local charity. I had written a check instead of a payroll deduction and for whatever reason, someone in payroll decided they should take money out of my check instead. They didn't even see the check I had written. I called and wanted to know why they were taking money out I didn't request and they had gotten me mixed up with someone else. I was not pleased and you can bet I checked my pay stub even more carefully after that.
