COVID-19

July 17th, 2020 at 10:01 am

I can’t stress how important it is to wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, and practice social distancing. This virus is serious, it is not a hoax, and if one person dies from it, that’s too many.

As you know my friend’s mom did not take this pandemic seriously, she is now in ICU in an induced coma, and her daughter in law, my friend’s wife now has the virus, contracted, they think from the party they all attended. Please adhere to CDC guidelines.

I’m in Florida, and things are bad. We have had over 100, clinical staff quit, at a local hospital. Let that sink in, over a 100. Nurses do not want to expose themselves, they’re seeing first hand what’s happening. My friend who is a physician shared, based on what she’s seeing, it’s not going to get better. Please, do what you must to protect yourself, family, friends and others.

Its sad when they don't take it seriously until it affects them...

The virus is really scary, and I worry about the mental strain on health care workers.

In the states like New York, and where I live, Massachusetts, they were treated like heroes and they could see that the governors were doing everything they could to support them - as were the people. Every night at 7:00 people would ring bells, bang pots, cheer. And people stayed home. And once told to, most wear masks.

It must be so disheartening to be someplace like Georgia where the governor is going to court to prevent mandatory mask orders...or where you are in Florida with schools opening and the Republican Convention coming. The health care workers know their governments don’t value them. In Texas, Governor Abbot said No to a Samaritan’s Purse hospital a Congressman was arranging.

Everyone who posts here takes this so seriously - shows there is a link between financially responsible and life responsible! Staying home is very very hard but it saves lives - not just our own but people we know and love and strangers.

((HUGS)) We have a mid-90s Grandparent in Florida. Who is not staying home and not wearing a mask. 😞 I certainly don't blame the healthcare workers for quitting. I feel bad for them more than anything. Hang in there.

We have friends who take this seriously and wear a mask, wash their hands, etc. and limit how much they do. Then we have other friends who think wearing a mask is a form of tyranny. And never the twain shall meet or something like that. We have for years kept hand sanitizer in our cars and used it faithfully whenever we would get back to our car from whatever we did. We wear masks. We wash our hands a lot. We plan our outings for times when things aren't busy like getting food or prescriptions. We did go to some antique malls a couple of weeks ago during the week. Most of the time, other than the people checking you out, we were the only customers in the place.
