Wasted some cash

February 22nd, 2006 at 11:26 pm

Now that I have started trying to clean up my act, when ever I eat out or spend any money on some thing that is not a necessity I am ticked off.

Had a hair appointment yesterday, hadn't been in almost 3 months (use to go twice a week) and spent $30.00; which could've have been used to pay a CC or applied to my $20.00 challenge. I am so upset; I could barely sleep last night because of it.

Sometimes I think I am letting this "debt freedom" so to speak take over my life...it's all I can think about L

Don't feel bad about the haircut. If you hadn't gone in 3 months, think of it like this...the average cost of hair (for you) is $10/mnth. Just figure this amount into a budget for the year. We all need to look presentable without having costs spiral out of control. Sounds like you're doing just fine.

Actually, I had been thinking about doing something like this for clothes for the year. Limit myself to an amount instead of impulse buying. One way I came up with would be to buy a VISA GC and load it with the full amount. This way I can never go over what I budgeted!

I feel the same way! But, I try to remember that it's not forever. I only intend to feel guilty until my debt is paid off. Once it is, as long as I am saving and being responsible, it'll be ok to spend a little cash now and again!

I don't think of what you did as a waste at all. More of an investment........in you! If I don't take care of myself, the rest of my life begins to suffer. I don't splurge, but I do spend some money too. I think the difference is in how we view these expenditures and if we've put the thought into it prior to the spending.
I know if I don't get a haircut on time, I end up being on the cusp of cranky until I get it taken care of.............small things can bug me sometimes! Smile
Wasting your money would be more like buying one of those hair cutting devices that fit on your vacuum or something!!!
