$225 Student Loan

December 31st, 2025 at 12:55 pm

Yesterday I scheduled/paid my final student loan payment of the year, it's in a pending status so it should hit today.

2025 was a struggle, there were more good days than bad. I made it.

looking forward to paying my student loan off in 2026

Trucking Along

December 27th, 2025 at 06:26 am

This weekend I plan on getting myself back on track. I did a really bad job at tracking my spending and income this year. First time in a long time that I was not on tope of a lot of things.

A few things I've done tonight

- Jotted down when things are due

- Cleaned out emails ( work in progress)

- Unsubscribe to junk emails (e.g. retailers)

- Cleaned my bedroom and master bath

- Working with ChatGPT to create the perfect budget, well at least that's what I am thinking.

Holidays and Student Loans

December 23rd, 2025 at 08:07 pm

One thing I've learned is if you want your student loan payment to hit immediately, pay it just before a holiday. many other time it takes 3 days to process. I can't figure how they're able to ensure the interest calculates and post timely but not your payment.

Any how the  loan payment I made yesterday was credited to my account today, my new balance is $10,966.02, accruing $2.06 a day. Imagine incurring $10-$12 a day, and your payment is $319 a month because you can't afford a $900 payment. Next week is pay day (first job) and I'll be able to throw another $200 at it. I was really hoping to be at or under $10k by the end of the year.

$800 Payment Student Loan Payment

December 22nd, 2025 at 09:15 am

As of today, my student loan balance is $11,762.12, and it’s accruing $2.21 per day in interest.

I made a payment of $800.38. I expect it will take about six days to post, so roughly $13.26 in interest will accrue during that time (6 × $2.21). That means about $787.12 of my payment should go toward the principal ($800.38 − $13.26), which would bring my balance to approximately $10,974.99 ($11,762.12 − $787.12).

I’m a little bummed I won’t hit the $10,000 balance mark yet, but I’m still grateful for how far I’ve come.

My last paycheck of the year is next Thursday, and I should be able to put another $200 toward the loan. I’m estimating about $15 of that will go to interest.

Other news, I did a little Christmas shopping using the cash saved from the 100-day challenge vs my Christmas funds. I also used the money to pay for home maintenance, and other miscellaneous items. I'm thankful I had the cash this holiday season.

I'm thinking about either letting the Christmas fund rollover or take the amount saved and throwing it at my student loan balance. That would actually bring the total down to under 10k.

HOA. My HOA monthly payment increased to $375, or $4500 for the year. I'm thankful I had this money set a side and cut the check for the year. This left me with about one(1) extra payment in that account.

Home mortgage. My escrow analysis was completed and the shortage is about $40. Though not a big deal, about $1.50 extra month increase in payments, if not paid, I paid it.

Life has been lifing. I fell off big time this year, over the next few days I plan doing some self reflecting, setting up my planner and budget and getting myself back on track.

Rolled Change

December 18th, 2025 at 11:19 am

I'm throwing everything I can at my student loan. Yesterday I rolled my change (coins), something I do every year  and I had $53, so I threw it all at my student loan.

Next week is pay day at my second job. I have decided that after paying my tithes rather than saving half and using the other half to pay down my loan, I'm throwing it all at the student loan. That's about $1000 every pay day, $2k a month. That means in 5 months I'll be done.

Though my savings isn't where I'd like it to be, I have about 8 months of expenses saved. Should I become unemployed and unable to pay this loan, it will balloon back up and for me it's not worth it. Things have been slow on my first job, and a bunch of layoffs so I need to act. I'm so afraid to have this loan increase after paying so much.

wish me luck

Bonus = Student Loan

December 10th, 2025 at 01:18 pm

Thank you to everyone who has  been on this journey with me, you know how difficult it's been, how long it's been and I'm just so excited to share with you.

My bonus hit my account today and I paid $2000 (all of it) on my student loans . Once the payment post which will probably be either be Friday or Monday, my new balance will be just over $12,000. I'm hoping that with my first job, my full-time job, that I get a bonus. If I do, I'm throwing it all at the student loans as well.

I would love to have these loans done by March. However, I think that realistically it will be done by June. Once I submit that final payment, no matter where you're at, if you hear a scream, a cry, a yell, know that is me, lol.

I'll up update my sidebar once the payment hits.

Next after the student loan is paid off, I'll throw it at the new car and get that done by the end of the following  year (2027).

Yes, I bought a new car. My car had hit 300,000 miles and I started putting way too much money in it. I just hate that I did not save money for a vehicle and that I was throwing it all at the student loan but then another part of me was like, yes that is the right thing to do, pay your student loans. I was close to 100k prior to the pandemic, and opted to take full advantage of the no interest period.
