10 Deadly Money Sins

May 24th, 2006 at 08:16 pm

Just thought I would share, this was in my inbox today, I have to say I am guilty on some of these but have made big changes:

Sin #1: Don’t Balance Your Checkbook
Even if your accounts are low, it is better to know where you are at financially

Sin #2: Make impulse purchases that cripple your finances

Sin #3: Don’t Create a Budget
Sin #4: Live Paycheck to Paycheck
Live within your means or make more money before you increase your expenses.
Sin #5: Don’t Put Money Into Savings Regularly
Sin #6: Buy Into the “Middle Class” and get swept up in “Keeping Up with the Jones’s”

Sin #7: Shop before you pay the bills
Make saving money a routine and stick to it
Sin #8: Don’t File Taxes On Time
Sin #9: Use your Credit Card Frequently Without Paying Much Toward the Balance
Sin #10: Abandon Your Financial Obligations

I am guilty of a couple!! But, in my defense, I used to balance my checkbook. But now, I watch it online. I rarely write checks. I just use my checking account for direct deposit and electronic payment of my credit card. The only checks I write are for my taxes, tithe & car insurance. But, when I was actually using my debit card or writing checks on a frequent basis, I ALWAYS balanced my checkbook.
