Well I did it and I know it was a mistake

January 16th, 2007 at 03:15 am

My sister called me all day worrying me to death about borrowing $300 and I got so aggravated I went ahead and lent it to her. Now she says she will pay me on Thursday, which I know is a joke. I can kick myself right now

Amber, it's tough to say no to people we're close to. There's some weird form of guilt they're able to make us generate. *fingers crossed* that she pays ya back on Thursday! Smile

Don't beat yourself up! Try again when she asks next month! Big Grin

Amber, I know how you feel. I finally had to make a stand with family and stop lending someone money which they never paid back. I realised it was hurting both me and them because they would never learn good money management as long as I kept bailing them out. Yes it is very hard to say no to someone you love, but in the long run it is the best thing.

Don't, don't, don't loan her any more money. Remember how selfish she was about it? Remember that you actually needed it? You have to close the bank or this will go on for the rest of your lives.

I started telling people that I have allocated where all my money goes, to pay bills and into accounts that I just cannot get to and that I am broke and only left myself enough money for gas and to get through the week. After a while, they stopped asking me and my life became a little more stress free.
