Tackling CC3

November 26th, 2017 at 05:58 pm

My fiancé said that it was my turn to treat for breakfast, woke up and cooked breakfast 🍳 . No need to spend $35 eating out. We usually rotate but this debt has to go. When asked if I was really cooking breakfast, I said yep and reminded him that I have over $78,000 in debt and that I'm Dave Ramseying. He didn't say a word, and just smiled. I've learned that I can only do what I can for myself. I'm still going to have the weekly meetings so long as he wants to and ask the recommended questions.

In financial news, I saved $55 by washing and coloring my hair, I did the following with the money saved:

* $5.50 EF
* $4.95 Sinking
* $44.55 CC3

Next I was so excited to start the debt BINGO game, that I couldn't wait to pull this week's number, that was $15. So I paid $15 on CC3.

I know the Total Money Makeover states to stop at a $1000 to the EF but I am so scared that something will happen and I'll be back to the credit cards πŸ’³, I want to be able to cash flow everything. I'm only adding to the EF, if I save money like above or come into extra cash. No funds are earmarked for the EF when I create my budget.

The sinking fund I had to create, insurance is due in April and in January my HR certifications are due, I want to have something towards these things.

Went by mom and picked up the pink bows, there was no way I was going to buy any.

    Is CC3 the City Furniture on your sidebar? Just trying to follow along. Wasn't sure if it was up to date.

    I hope fiancΓ© enjoyed Sunday breakfast. Over and above money saved, Sunday breakfast at home can be so much more relaxing. Your excitement and determination to take control of your financial life DR style, is wonderful to see. Next up is HR Certification[s], January, 2018. How much per pay will be needed to add in sinking fund to cover Certification by Due Date? Likewise, how much per pay will be needed to add in sinking fund to cover Insurance by Due Date, April 2018?

    With those factors covered, small 'snowflakes' can be rushed to Furniture pay down without getting ahead of yourself. It also lessens the pressure on your Baby Step 1, $ 1000.

    Great job Amber. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day on the weekends! Good job standing your ground! I believe in you and can't wait to watch your successes. Along the lines of CC Free, can you number your side bar cards or refer to them as they are listed? That helps me follow along as well!

    Oh, one more question...what is the status of the 52 week challenge monies? I see the $265.91 listed and wasn't sure if you addressed this in the past. If it does still exist, can you allocate that to CC3? Just a thought?!

    Good for you cooking breakfast! Imagine how much money you saved! I cook brunch every Sunday and you are right. it would be easy to spend almost $35 for a fancy breakfast and tax and tip.

    I know I felt the same way about continuing to add to the EF. Perhaps you could budget just $5 a week towards it while focusing the rest of the spare money on debt if it will make you feel better.

    Hi all,
    I started the 52 week challenge earlier in the year and stopped, I'm just going to use this money for the items coming up in January. From now until January, a good $60 per pay period plus the $265 would cover the item.

    I've updated the side bar.

    Good plan to use that money saved as the beginning for the sinking fund to cover those January expenses. Thanks for updating the side bar!
