As of today, my student loan balance is $11,762.12, and it’s accruing $2.21 per day in interest.
I made a payment of $800.38. I expect it will take about six days to post, so roughly $13.26 in interest will accrue during that time (6 × $2.21). That means about $787.12 of my payment should go toward the principal ($800.38 − $13.26), which would bring my balance to approximately $10,974.99 ($11,762.12 − $787.12).
I’m a little bummed I won’t hit the $10,000 balance mark yet, but I’m still grateful for how far I’ve come.
My last paycheck of the year is next Thursday, and I should be able to put another $200 toward the loan. I’m estimating about $15 of that will go to interest.
Other news, I did a little Christmas shopping using the cash saved from the 100-day challenge vs my Christmas funds. I also used the money to pay for home maintenance, and other miscellaneous items. I'm thankful I had the cash this holiday season.
I'm thinking about either letting the Christmas fund rollover or take the amount saved and throwing it at my student loan balance. That would actually bring the total down to under 10k.
HOA. My HOA monthly payment increased to $375, or $4500 for the year. I'm thankful I had this money set a side and cut the check for the year. This left me with about one(1) extra payment in that account.
Home mortgage. My escrow analysis was completed and the shortage is about $40. Though not a big deal, about $1.50 extra month increase in payments, if not paid, I paid it.
Life has been lifing. I fell off big time this year, over the next few days I plan doing some self reflecting, setting up my planner and budget and getting myself back on track.
